We are pleased to announce the third UK Bio-Entrepreneur School, which will take place at BioCity Nottingham on 10th, 11th and 12th March 2009

The QED Bio-Entrepreneur School is open to anyone who is interested in
commercialisation and in developing their business understanding and
entrepreneurial skills. It will be particularly relevant if you consider yourself
to be at the start of your entrepreneurial career and you are currently any
of the following:
• Recent graduate or post-doc
• Academic Researcher
• Someone working in industry, including pharma
• Someone working in a small business
It is ideal for people who:
• Are planning to commercialise their bio-related idea
• Have just started a business in the sector
• Work in the sector and are looking for professional development
With a particular focus on the Life Science sector including healthcare,agricultural, environmental, industrial, and marine biotechnology as well as bio-nanotechnology and bio-pharmaceuticals we will help you to capitalise on your entrepreneurial talent, help you explore a commercial route to market and consider strategies and methodologies in a practicalhands on way.
In addition to developing your enterprise and entrepreneurial skills the School will also provide numerous opportunities for you to network with existing entrepreneurs, investors, and specialist accountants and lawyers involved in the sector, thus enabling you to lay sound foundations for a successful career.
The School is delivered in a facilitative style by seasoned entrepreneurs and business professionals and involves training, exercises, casestudies, discussion, networking, mentoring and presentations. Individual sessions are intensive and challenging and lead up to a friendly ‘Dragons Den’ style competitive pitch to a panel of experts in the commercialisation and funding of new technology. This is followed by signposting to further business support and the awarding of a Bio-Entrepreneur Certificate for attendance on the School.
