Picking up the pace
Firstly, we are delighted to announce that emda, subject to contract, has agreed to extend the funding of the Growth Investment Network for another three year term. This means that we can continue to do what we do but on a larger scale, to ensure that this network is at the centre of deal activity in the region for early stage and developing high growth companies for a long time to come.

Secondly, we are also delighted to introduce to the network a new starter at Growth Investment, Gemma Cann, the newly appointed Marketing and Communications Assistant. I am sure you will have the opportunity to meet her at the numerous forthcoming events.

Angel Insight
Following the official launch of the Angel Insight initiative in October last year, all events have been very well received. The next event is on the 4th March and hosted by the recently merged RSM Tenon. A Lunch Club for all those who have attended workshops, will follow on the 24th March, at Harts ‘Upstairs’.

If you know of any wealthy individuals who might be interested in business angel investing, please point them towards Toby.

Save the date – 28th of April 17.30
With events in mind, the next Growth Investment main event shall be held on the 28th of April at the recently transformed NTU’s Newton and Arkwright building, now Nottingham Conference Centre.

As always, this will provide the opportunity to hear ground breaking speakers and to network with all the movers and shakers of the region; entrepreneurs, investors and support services alike.

Business East Midlands Magazine – Equity Finance Feature
As mentioned in the December newsletter, don’t forget to make sure you get your hands on the latest edition of BEM or sneak a peek here, as this month we hear from Paul Jenkinson, Regional Manager of Connect Midlands on Investment Readiness. There is also a spotlight on EV Group and Beer and Partners, as well as one of the latest deals completed by multiple members of our network.

New representatives

We would like to introduce and welcome some new faces to the network after a few companies have changed their representatives.

Jason Seagrave - McGregors Corporate

Jason has been advising owner managed businesses for the last 20 years, with a reputation for the highest standards. Enjoying helping clients achieve their personal and business objectives, he also takes great pride in building up long term partnerships as their trusted advisor.

Simon Ward
 – EV Group
Simon commenced his role as Investment Director in November 2009 and will lead on strengthening the company’s presence and networks in the East & West Midlands and the Southern regions.

Steve
Marjoram – RSM Tenon
Steve advises clients on growth strategies, profit improvement, business development and raising finance to implement these plans. He particularly enjoys working with different people and businesses whilst helping to solve the problems they face.

Finally, some food for thought…
Maybe something to bear in mind throughout 2010;

“The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is that a warrior takes everything as a challenge, while an ordinary man takes everything as a blessing or as a curse.”
(The Teachings of Don Juan, Carlos Castaneda)

We look forward to seeing all you warriors on the 28th of April!
