Investment promises Strawdog Studios a Happy New Year

Determined to defy the current economic climate, Derby based game developers Strawdog Studios has, through a sister company, secured investment worth £500k for a new digital distribution title. The company will retain IP ownership of the product and Strawdog Studios will act as the publisher for its release on the Xbox 360 later in 2009.

Strawdog Studios, which formed in 2003, develops titles for game consol platforms like the XBox 360, Wii and PS3. The current project received £250k investment from European Regional Development Funds via EM Media, the Regional Screen Agency for the East Midlands, which was matched by co-finance from a publisher.

Strawdog Studios attended Connect Midlands’ Right Funds for You event and Amber workshop in 2008 and aim to use the experience to help secure investments in future games.

Simon Morris, Technical Director of Strawdog Studios, commented; “The development of the game is well underway and is really helping to further our ambitions for growing a portfolio of original titles. Securing investment was a crucial step, and has provided the lifeblood for the project. Getting involved with Connect Midlands has helped us to make our offering ready for future investments.”
