Unique Funding Opportunity to Study Venture Capital and Business Angel Investment Industry in the States?
20/01/2010

Applications are now being taken for The Nottingham Memorial Roosevelt Travelling Scholarship 2010.
The scholarship offers an employee from your organisation the chance to study something of benefit to your company whilst travelling in the United States for up to three months.
More than just a student bursary, the scholarship is available for anyone between the ages of 21 and 30 who lives or works in the county of Nottinghamshire.
The only stipulation is that the candidate the candidate does not aim to spend more than a couple of weeks in any one place, investigating a work related topic and generally experiencing the American way of life.
Amanda Roberts of the Roosevelt Scholarship explains, "It is up to the candidate to propose a sketch of what they hope to do, with an explanation as to why it should be them and why in the US. It is the scholar's journey into work and life discovery and we expect them to be the expert in their field – so we are not directive. We expect realistic ideas of where the scholar might go and with whom they may want to meet."
Amanda continues; “Investigating a work topic could definitely include venture capital and/or angel investment businesses. We would hope that the applicant may already know who is working in their industry to some extent and would certainly have done some research into what is available in the US. A good starting point for such research may involve colleagues, employers and web based search engines, of course.”
No formal qualifications are necessary, however candidates must fill out an application form and the successful applicant will have to come in for two interviews.
Only one or two awards are given a year, therefore if you have a topic in mind and would like to apply or know of someone else who would find this of interest, please visit the website for further information www.rooseveltscholarship.org.
The closing date is 5th March 2010.
