City investors invited to Midlands for annual conference
17/09/2009
Professional investors are being urged to leave the City for a day and head to the Midlands for the annual Connect Midlands Investment Conference (CMIC), which will be held on Thursday 26th November at the East Midlands Conference Centre, Nottingham.
CMIC showcases 16 pre-screened and investment-ready enterprises from the Midlands seeking from between £500k and £5m. Each company has just eight minutes to present their proposition and business model and to demonstrate how they can return a profit for investors. Following each round of presentations and over lunch, investors and companies have time to network at exhibition stands.
Connect Midlands is a not-for-profit network, part-funded by the ERDF and emda. It supports technology and high growth companies to gain access to finance through investment showcasing events, coaching and networking between businesses, investors, intermediaries, support agencies and the academic community.
To date it has helped companies in the East Midlands to raise over £63m* and has seen its InvoRed programme identified as a “blue print” by BIS, (the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, formerly known as BERR) forming part of a national “Solutions for Business” brand under the name of “Understanding Finance for Business”.
Paul Jenkinson, regional manager of Connect Midlands feels CMIC provides professional investors with a real opportunity;
“The 16 businesses that we showcase at CMIC will have all been carefully pre-screened by professionals with strong track records in investing in businesses. CMIC delivers access to quality propositions that are genuinely investment ready, providing a return on their investment in time that is hard to beat.”
In the first instance, investors considering attending, should visit www.connectshowcase.org or call 01509 228 702.
